Dr Leung Pak-yin has been appointed Chief Executive of the Hospital Authority, replacing Shane Solomon. Currently Director (Quality & Safety), Dr Leung will take up the post on November 8, for three years.
Secretary for Food & Health Dr York Chow today welcomed the appointment, saying Dr Leung has rich experience in public health management and proven leadership and management skills.
"I am confident Dr Leung will ably lead the authority to meet the challenges ahead. We are sure we will continue our good working relationship with the authority under [his] leadership," Dr Chow said.
"We will work with the Hospital Authority chairman and the newly appointed chief executive to provide quality medical services to the community and take forward the healthcare reform initiatives in the years ahead."
Dr Leung said his most pressing issues will be staff shortages, long working hours and morale. He pledged to boost communication between the authority's headquarters, its clusters and frontline staff.
