The Tung Chung Man Tung Road Sports Centre and Tung Chung Public Library, both housed in the Tung Chung Municipal Services Building, officially opened today, offering new facilities for exercise, leisure and self learning.
Speaking at the opening ceremony, Director of Leisure & Cultural Services Betty Fung said both venues, which commenced operation earlier this year, represent an important milestone in the department's provision of quality leisure and cultural services for local residents.
With the opening of the Tung Chung Swimming Pool next year, the three venues will provide more comprehensive leisure and cultural facilities.
The Tung Chung Man Tung Road Sports Centre, occupying amore than 4,000 square metres, is located between the ground and second floors of the Tung Chung Municipal Services Building.
It provides a multi-purpose arena which can be converted into two basketball courts, two volleyball courts or eight badminton courts, a table-tennis room, a children’s play room, three multi-purpose activity rooms and a fitness room.
The Tung Chung Public Library, located on the ground and first floors of the same building, occupies about 2,700 square metres with a stock of more than 210,000 items.
