Secretary for Commerce & Economic Development Gregory So has blamed pan-democratic lawmakers for the early adjournment of the Legislative Council debate on the Copyright (Amendment) Bill 2014.
Speaking to reporters after the LegCo meeting failed to meet quorum today, Mr So said the pan-democrats were deliberately absent from the chamber when they should have been there scrutinising the bill.
"To abdicate their responsibility, is it something they should be doing? I think the citizens of Hong Kong should ask that question," he said.
"If [the pan-democrats] really want to debate something, they should be here to debate."
He noted with regret that several pro-establishment legislators were not at the meeting due to illness.
