Financial Secretary John Tsang is on a two-day visit to Romania to boost economic and trade ties.
He introduced to Romanian Banking Association representatives Hong Kong’s robust mechanism to regulate the banking sector and outlined its world-class and diversified financial services, including offshore renminbi services.
He met with Chinese Ambassador Xu Feihong over dinner.
Mr Tsang will meet State Secretary for Public Finance Attila György tomorrow and sign a comprehensive double taxation avoidance agreement.
He will also meet the country’s Chamber of Commerce & Industry members and speak at a seminar to highlight the opportunities of the Belt & Road initiatives, and their potential to be a world economic driving force in the 21st century.
