Financial Secretary John Tsang met with Turkish senior financial officials ahead of the Group of 20 Leaders' Summit in Antalya, Turkey, today.
He updated Turkish Central Bank Governor Erdem Başçi on Hong Kong's position as the world's pre-eminent offshore renminbi centre, offering a range of services including trade settlement and investment, financing and asset management.
Mr Tsang added that Turkish enterprises can make good use of Hong Kong's services in renminbi trade settlement when tapping the Mainland market.
He and Turkish Finance Minister Mehmet Şimşek discussed the business opportunities for countries along the Belt & Road, including Turkey. Both parties looked forward to strengthening economic co-operation between the two sides.
Mr Tsang will attend the G20 Leaders' Summit on November 15 and 16 as part of the delegation of the People's Republic of China. He will visit Bucharest, Romania, on November 17 and 18 to promote economic and trade ties between Hong Kong and Romania.
