Financial Secretary John Tsang will visit Hungary, Poland and Germany from September 21 to 26 to promote economic and trade co-operation among Silk Road Economic Belt and 21st-Century Maritime Silk Road
route countries.
In Budapest he will call on senior government officials and speak at a luncheon co-organised by the Hong Kong Economic & Trade Office (Berlin), the Hong Kong Trade Development Council and the Hungarian Chamber of Commerce to showcase Hong Kong's advantages under the Belt & Road initiative.
In Warsaw he will meet senior trade and finance officials and visit the Warsaw Stock Exchange and the Lodz Special Economic Zone. He will also speak at a luncheon co-organised by the Berlin HKETO, the HKTDC and the Polish Chamber of Commerce.
He will inspect Germany's Duisburg Port, the terminus of the Yuxinou (Chongqing-Xinjiang-Europe) freight railway, hailed as the New Silk Road. This will be followed by a celebration event for direct flight services between Hong Kong and Dusseldorf.
He will then speak in Dusseldorf at a business seminar on the Belt & Road initiatives and a luncheon co-organised by the Berlin HKETO and the HKTDC.
He will also meet business leaders in Frankfurt.
During Mr Tsang's absence, Secretary for Financial Services & the Treasury Prof KC Chan will be Acting Financial Secretary.
