Secretary for Commerce & Economic Development Gregory So has said the Tourism Board will launch a new promotional campaign at the end of this month to attract more tourists to the city.
Mr So told reporters today that overall tourist numbers fell 8.7% last month, while there was a 10% drop in Mainland visitors, which he said was a cause for concern.
He believes the drop was caused by the currency exchange rate and some people's radical acts against parallel traders.
Mr So said additional resources will be allocated to the Tourism Board to help promote Hong Kong and boost tourist numbers.
