The law is clear on regulating mobile TV, Secretary for Commerce & Economic Development Gregory So says, in that the licencee must comply with the Broadcasting Ordinance if its mobile TV is transmitted in a way regulated by the ordinance.
Briefing reporters today, Mr So said the consensus reached in a 2007 mobile TV consultation was that regulation should be light, as long as it remains a mobile TV service.
He said a review of the Broadcasting and Telecommunications Ordinances is needed in light of technological advancement, but stressed that this had nothing to do with the mobile TV issue at hand.
