Secretary for Commerce & Economic Development Gregory So today thanked tourism and retail industry leaders for their contribution to the economy, including employment opportunities for the local workforce.
Mr So, accompanied by Commissioner for Tourism Philip Yung, held a meeting with the industry leaders invited by Executive Councillor and Legislative Councillor Regina Ip.
Mr So also welcomed them to voice concerns and provide valuable suggestions to upgrade the city's capacity to receive tourists.
"We are delighted to work with them, the Government offices concerned and the Hong Kong Tourism Board to create a pleasant environment for visitors," he said.
Attendees said they disapproved of recent incidents in which tourists in major shopping districts in Hong Kong were disturbed, and expressed their support for the Government's condemnation of such behaviour.
