Business receipts for most major service industries showed year-on-year increases in value terms in the third quarter, the Census & Statistics Department announced today.
Double-digit increases were recorded in the business receipts for the courier (53%), banking (16.8%), insurance (16%), warehousing and storage (14.2%), administrative and support services (12.5%), and financing (except banking) (10.4%) industries. However, business receipts for the real estate industry fell 10.1%.
Tourism, convention and exhibition services business receipts rose 15.4%, while those for computer and information technology services grew 0.4%.
On a seasonally-adjusted quarter-to-quarter comparison, about half of major service industries recorded increases over the second quarter, including the courier (38.9%), and warehousing and storage (12.6%) industries, whereas the financing (except banking) industry registered an 8% decrease.
Comparing the third quarter with the second quarter, tourism, convention and exhibition services business receipts dropped 8.3%, while those of computer and information technology services fell 6.5% on a seasonally-adjusted basis.
