FS winds up NYC meetings

September 23, 2011
Financial Secretary John Tsang continued his US trip yesterday by attending a lunch hosted by the Chief Executive Officer of NYSE Euronext Duncan Niederauer.

He toured its trading floor in New York City before departing for his next stop, Washington DC.

Speaking at the lunch, Mr Tsang said given the relative strength of the Asian economies and the opening up of China's financial sector, he saw exciting possibilities for even stronger and closer financial links between Hong Kong and New York.

He discussed the global economy with Mr Niederauer, particularly the debt crisis in Europe.

Later in Washington DC, he met with the President of the Heritage Foundation Edwin Feulner to discuss the global economic performance and outlook, and other issues.

Mr Tsang will attend the International Monetary Fund & World Bank Plenary Session and call on American officials later today.
