September 22, 2011
Financial Secretary John Tsang has launched his US visit by meeting business leaders and officials in New York City.
He attended a breakfast roundtable meeting with American Chinese business chiefs and professionals yesterday, discussing Hong Kong's unique role as the premier gateway to Mainland China.
This was followed by a courtesy call on Chinese Consul General in New York Sun Guoxiang.
Mr Tsang then attended a lunch hosted by the Federal Reserve Bank of New York, and spoke about Hong Kong's development as China's global financial centre, and the offshore centre for renminbi business.
He later viewed the Art of Dissent in 17th Century China exhibition at the Metropolitan Museum of Art.
He will next head to Washington DC and Chicago before returning to Hong Kong on September 28.
