Gregory So to attend APEC meetings

Acting Secretary for Commerce & Economic Development Gregory So will attend the Asia-Pacific Economic Co-operation ministerial meetings in the US state of Montana from May 19 to 21.
He will attend the APEC Meeting of Ministers Responsible for Trade, in which trade ministers from APEC member economies will discuss ways to move the negotiations of the Doha Development Agenda forward to the next phase.
World Trade Organisation Director-General Pascal Lamy will brief ministers on the current status of the negotiations.
Ministers will also exchange views on three priorities for APEC this year. These are strengthening regional economic integration and expanding trade, promoting green growth, and advancing regulatory convergence and co-operation.
Mr So will then participate in a joint meeting to discuss barriers impeding the ability of small and medium enterprises to trade in the Asia-Pacific region.
He will later attend the 18th APEC Small & Medium Enterprises Ministerial Meeting, where ministers will discuss ways to help SMEs use new technologies to reduce the cost of doing business.
Mr So will be back in Hong Kong on May 23.
