Observatory
The Hong Kong Observatory's mission is to deliver useful and effective meteorological services; to provide quality services in climate, radiation, time standard, seismology, oceanography and astronomy; and to strengthen public preparedness for natural disasters.
Assistant Director of the Hong Kong Observatory Leung Wing-mo says the observatory has been monitoring Hong Kong’s radiation levels and detected no abnormality. The observatory has already uploaded the real-time data onto its website.
Noting radioactivity from Fukushima has not affected Hong Kong, he said in the next few days, Japan, particularly Fukushima, will be affected by northwesterly or westerly winds, which should blow any radioactivity from the prefecture east or southeast, away from Hong Kong.

Energy Advisory Committee Chairman Edmund Leung said the radiation level in Tokyo is normal today, adding no radioactive dust has been detected in the nearby places like Korea, Taiwan and Hong Kong. Regular monitoring will continue.
