Chief Executive Carrie Lam continued her Beijing visit today by meeting various officials.
She visited China Railway with Financial Secretary Paul Chan and met its General Manager Lu Dongfu.
She thanked China Railway for helping Hong Kong with the construction of the Hong Kong Section of the Guangzhou-Shenzhen-Hong Kong Express Rail Link.
The two parties agreed to put in place a strengthened co-ordination mechanism in the coming year to prepare sound operational plans for the opening of the Hong Kong section.
Mrs Lam and Mr Chan then met Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank President Jin Liqun.
Mrs Lam also participated in a seminar and introduced to nearly 100 AIIB personnel from around the world the unique advantages Hong Kong enjoys under “one country, two systems” and shared with them her public service experience.
Mrs Lam later called on Minister of Education Chen Baosheng, and thanked the ministry for providing assistance to Hong Kong students studying, working and living on the Mainland.
She then called on All-China Women's Federation President Shen Yueyue, and discussed the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Government's work in safeguarding the rights of women and children.
Mrs Lam, Mr Chan and Secretary for Commerce & Economic Development Edward Yau then met Hong Kong & Macao Affairs Office Director Wang Guangya.
