The cancellation of Chief Executive CY Leung's Beijing visit this week is not related to the upcoming Chief Executive Election.
Mr Leung told reporters before today's Executive Council meeting he must stay in Hong Kong to deal with the Legislative Council oath-taking issue.
He said he hopes the matter can be handled within Hong Kong laws but other possibilities cannot be ruled out.
He has not yet decided whether to seek a second term as Chief Executive, he added.
