Chief Executive CY Leung today expressed sadness over the death of Fire Services Department Senior Station Officer Thomas Cheung who died after fighting a fire in Ngau Tau Kok.
The blaze broke out in an industrial building on Ngau Tau Kok Road.
Four other firefighters were sent to hospital.
Speaking to the media after visiting the injured officers, Mr Leung said Officer Cheung left behind a wife and a four-month-old baby. He said the Government will provide support for them.
Secretary for Security TK Lai also expressed his grief and offered his deepest condolences.
