Fur treatment:  Chief Secretary Carrie Lam visits the China Giant Panda Garden in Sichuan with Wolong Nature Reserve Administration Director Zhang Hemin.

Chief Secretary Carrie Lam today opened the China Giant Panda Garden in Sichuan.

 

Officiating at the park's opening ceremony, Mrs Lam said Hong Kong donated $10 billion towards Sichuan's earthquake reconstruction efforts, of which $1.58 billion was spent on projects in Wolong.

 

The Sichuan side announced at the ceremony that fees would be waived for Hong Kong people visiting the Shenshuping Base and the Dujiangyan Base of the China Conservation & Research Centre for the Giant Panda, as a token of thanks for Hong Kong's earthquake relief efforts in the province.

 

Mrs Lam also officiated at the breakthrough ceremony for the Yingxiu to Wolong section of Provincial Road 303. Hong Kong committed more than $2 billion towards 44.5km section.
