Secretary for the Civil Service Clement Cheung visited the Housing Department to inspect its work and meet its staff today.
Accompanied by Permanent Secretary for the Civil Service Thomas Chow, Mr Cheung first met with Permanent Secretary for Transport & Housing (Housing) and Director of Housing Stanley Ying and directorate staff.
Mr Cheung said he was pleased to learn the department provides executive support to the Housing Authority, the largest provider of the city's public housing. The department also supports the Transport & Housing Bureau in dealing with housing-related policies and matters.
He then toured the Building Information Modelling Centre responsible for the design and construction of the department’s projects.
He later visited the department's Kowloon West & Hong Kong 1 Office in Oi Man Estate to see how it deals with estate management issues and helps residents. The office implements housing management policies, handles household enquiries and complaints, and supervises service contractors doing cleaning, security and maintenance.
Mr Cheung also met staff representatives to discuss their work. He praised them for their efforts and encouraged them to continue meeting public expectations of service.
