Chief Secretary Carrie Lam says the Government attaches great importance to Kai Ching Estate’s lead-tainted water problem, adding that she convened an inter-departmental meeting today to address the issue.
Mrs Lam told reporters this afternoon that the main task now is to restore the estate residents' confidence in water safety.
She noted that bottled water has been arranged for children, pregnant women and lactating mothers, and that the Water Supplies Department has set up temporary water supply points at the estate.
Water supplies staff will conduct thorough investigations and follow up on water works projects recently completed by the contractor concerned.
