Chief Secretary Carrie Lam said today the Government will continue to reach out to the community to promote its political reform proposals, but details of future events may not be disclosed to the media in advance.
Mrs Lam told reporters the original plan for last Saturday's bus parade was to stop at different points on Hong Kong island, in Kowloon and the New Territories for officials to hand out pamphlets and talk to local residents.
She said that when the parade was disrupted by protesters, officials were concerned about causing more disturbance and even injuries to some of the participants, which is why they decided to stay on the bus.
Mrs Lam added she participated in at least six community outreach events during the second round of public consultation on political reform, which were not publicised to the media, and she found those visits were constructive.
She said she values community outreach activities, so they will continue.
