Chief Executive CY Leung said today that talks on an ASEAN-Hong Kong Free Trade Agreement have been making good progress and he expects a successful conclusion in the coming year.
Speaking to reporters in Kuala Lumpur, Mr Leung said Hong Kong and ASEAN members enjoy strong trade relations, noting that ASEAN is the SAR's second-largest trading partner in goods and its fourth largest in services.
Mr Leung said he met five ASEAN leaders today who treasure the bilateral relationship their countries have with Hong Kong, as well as the city's "super-connector" role linking them with the Mainland.
