The Government plans to submit its constitutional reform proposal to the Legislative Council on either April 15 or 22, Chief Secretary Carrie Lam has said.
Mrs Lam told reporters this evening that the exact date has yet to be confirmed, but that she will attend the LegCo meeting to unveil the proposal and answer lawmakers' questions about it.
She reiterated that the proposal on the method for electing the Chief Executive by universal suffrage in 2017 was formulated in accordance with the National People's Congress Standing Committee's decision made on August 31 last year.
Mrs Lam also noted that the community, including legislators, should be pragmatic and make the right choice to achieve universal suffrage in 2017.
