Chief Executive CY Leung says he will follow up on the establishment of the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank during the Boao Forum this weekend.
Speaking to the media before departing for Boao today, Mr Leung said Hong Kong can make the best use of its role as a national and international financial centre when preparing for the bank’s establishment.
He added that Hong Kong, as a super-connector between the country and the world, possesses the double advantages of “one country” and “two systems”.
Hong Kong can contribute to the country's and the region's development in areas such as business, finance and other economic activities, boosting the city’s economy at the same time.
He said Hong Kong is a prominent offshore renminbi centre, and he hopes the Shenzhen-Hong Kong Stock Connect can start operating in the second half of this year.
He will meet tertiary students volunteering at the Boao Forum tonight, and noted that the forum gave themthe opportunity to meet business and political leaders, and witness the country’s clout in the international arena.
