Chief Executive CY Leung urges lawmakers to seize the opportunity to visit Shanghai, to meet with the Hong Kong & Macau Office Director to discuss constitutional development.
The visit would mark the director's first meeting with Hong Kong Legislative Council members since Hong Kong’s return to the motherland, Mr Leung stressed, adding they should treasure the chance.
Briefing reporters today before attending an Executive Council meeting, Mr Leung said he had relayed lawmakers’ requests concerning the visit to the Central Government.
Lawmakers will be abe to discuss constitutional reform with the director, and other socio-economic issues, including the Individual Visit Scheme.
Mr Leung also noted that local and Mainland people can express their views on constitutional reform freely at this stage, and the Hong Kong Government will adopt an open attitude.
