Seize chance to discuss reform issues: CS

In the constitutional reform consultation, there is still scope to discuss the nominating committee’s composition and nominating procedures, Chief Secretary Carrie Lam says.
 
Speaking to reporters today, Mrs Lam reiterated that any reform proposals must abide by the Basic Law and the National People’s Congress Standing Committee’s decisions and interpretations. But, she stressed, the Government still adopts an open attitude in reform discussion, so people should not give up the chance to discuss key issues.
 
Many pan-democrats want to meet Central Government officials who are responsible for constitutional reform, so a Shanghai visit would be a good opportunity for them to do so.
 
Chief Executive CY Leung announced two days ago the Central Government’s agreement to arrange a visit to the city for all Legislative Council members in mid-April.
 
Mrs Lam urged lawmakers to join.
 
The Chief Executive and three-member constitutional reform task force express the Government’s stance on reform, she said, adding she hoped people could differentiate the Government’s views from other parties'.
