Chief Executive CY Leung met Secretary of the CPC Shanghai Municipal Committee Han Zheng and Secretary of the CPC Chongqing Municipal Committee Sun Zhengcai in Beijing today.
Mr Leung told Mr Han service industries are very significant to both the Hong Kong and Shanghai economies, and there is much room for further co-operation between the two cities.
Hong Kong businessmen are very interested in the Shanghai Free Trade Zone, he added, saying he hopes to arrange the next plenary session of the Hong Kong-Shanghai Economic & Trade Co-operation Conference soon.
In his discussion with Mr Sun, Mr Leung said he attaches great importance to the relationship between Hong Kong and Chongqing and hopes to strengthen their economic ties.
Mr Leung will attend the opening of the second session of the 12th National People’s Congress tomorrow.
