Reform consultation set for December
November 29, 2013
Chief Secretary Carrie Lam says the first round for constitutional reform consultation will be launched in December, during which the Government will not make any proposals nor comment on other people’s proposals.
Speaking to reporters today, Mrs Lam said the Government will state the constitutional basis for reform in the consultation paper to start the public discussion.
It is the Government’s responsibility to let people know that the reform should be conducted according to the Basic Law and NPCSC decisions and interpretations, she said.
She added she hopes people can adopt a rational and open attitude towards different proposals made during the consultation period.
