Anniversary festivities to be held

Chief Executive CY Leung and senior government officials will attend a flag-raising ceremony and a reception on July 1 to celebrate the 16th anniversary of the establishment of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region.
About 2,500 people, including community leaders, members of district groups and uniformed groups, will attend the ceremony at Golden Bauhinia Square in Wan Chai at 8am.
There will be performances by the Police Band, a choir, a sea parade, and a fly-past by the disciplined services.
The public are welcome to watch the ceremony. A designated public viewing area will be set up with a capacity for about 1,000 people.
After the flag-raising, the Chief Executive will lead a reception at the Convention & Exhibition Centre's Grand Foyer. About 1,300 guests, including members of the Executive and Legislative Councils, consular corps and community sector members will attend.
