Mobile application proves popular
June 15, 2011
The Tell me@1823 mobile application recorded 18,783 downloads from its April launch until June 6.
Chief Secretary Henry Tang told legislators today that during the period, the 1823 Call Centre received 528 enquiries and 1,859 complaints through the mobile application, accounting for 0.2% of all enquiries and 4% of all complaints.
Mr Tang said the application only records the location of reported cases with the users' consent. It does not automatically track user location.
He reiterated the 1823 Call Centre strictly enforces personal data protection measures, including system security. The business rules and staff code of conduct require that any personal data collected is used only for following up cases reported.
