Secretary for Innovation & Technology Alfred Sit today urged members of the public to download the LeaveHomeSafe mobile app to help them evaluate the risks of their exposure to COVID-19.

At a press conference on the Policy Address I&T initiatives this afternoon, Mr Sit noted that more than 200,000 people have downloaded the app since its launch on November 16, and more than 20,000 venues and premises have registered and been provided with a QR code.

“We thank all trades and industries for their support to join the scheme and display the QR code at their premises.”

He said the Government has not set a target for the app as people are downloading it voluntarily.

“It is for exposure notification. It means that for those 200,000 people who have downloaded the app, they will be provided with information just in case they have to judge their exposure risk - so they benefit from the app.

“I would like to encourage more people to download the app but we do not set any target because up to now, downloading the app is voluntary.

“But we do encourage more people to download it so that they can benefit from the app. We do not set any target and downloading by 200,000 people is good because they can benefit from the app.”
