Govt reports COVID-19 case

August 23, 2020

The Commerce & Economic Development Bureau today said a Clerical Assistant has tested preliminarily positive for COVID-19.

The assistant is mainly responsible for providing supporting services on the 23rd floor of the West Wing of the Central Government Offices.

He does not have contact with members of the public in his daily work and he last performed duties on August 20.

The assistant, who has no recent travel history, has been wearing masks while performing duties and his body temperature is normal, the bureau said, adding he followed disease prevention measures at work.

The bureau is making arrangements to clean and sterilise the working places concerned and for colleagues who worked closely with him to undergo COVID-19 testing.

It will continue to maintain close liaison with the Centre for Health Protection and has reminded its staff to pay attention to personal hygiene.
