Nicholas Yang to visit Beijing

Secretary for Innovation & Technology Nicholas Yang will leave for Beijing today to attend the closing ceremony of the Youth Internship Programme at the Chinese Academy of Sciences to be held tomorrow.

 

The ceremony is organised by the Home Affairs Bureau and co-organised by the academy and the Hong Kong Volunteers Association.

 

Under the six-week internship, 49 tertiary students from Hong Kong have been assigned to research units under the academy in areas such as artificial intelligence, intelligent robots, autonomous vehicles, mathematics, physics and life sciences.

 

A number of research units including the Institute of Automation, the Institute of Computing Technology, the Institute of Software, the Institute of Mathematics, the Institute of Physics and the Institute of Microbiology are involved.

 

Mr Yang will return to Hong Kong tomorrow. During his absence, Under Secretary for Innovation & Technology David Chung will be Acting Secretary.
