Financial Secretary Paul Chan (right) meets seniors at Caritas Elderly Centre – Sai Kung.

Financial Secretary Paul Chan today visited an elderly centre and a community facility’s renovation project in Sai Kung.

Mr Chan first went to Caritas Elderly Centre – Sai Kung to learn about its services and operation.

The centre was funded by the Office of the Government Chief Information Officer to launch the Information & Communication Technology (ICT) Outreach Programme for the Elderly.

The programme allows dementia patients and "hidden" elderly to receive assistance in adopting ICT to broaden their social circles, build up their self-confidence and integrate into the community.

Mr Chan then visited the renovation project of Sai Kung Jockey Club Town Hall, which will be completed by the first quarter of 2020.

In the 2018-19 Budget, $8 billion was assigned to improve facilities in 18 districts. The renovation work is the designated project for Sai Kung District under the scheme.

Before concluding his visit, Mr Chan met Sai Kung District Council members to exchange views on livelihood and development issues in the district.
