April exports drop 4.2%

The volume of Hong Kong's total goods exports dropped 4.2% year-on-year in April, the Census & Statistics Department announced today.

 

The volume of goods imports fell 7.2% compared to the same period last year.

 

Both prices of goods exports and goods imports rose 2%.

 

On a seasonally adjusted basis, the volume of goods exports decreased 1.8% in the three-month period ending April with the preceding three months, while the volume of goods imports decreased 0.9%.

 

Comparing the first four months of 2019 with the same period last year, the volume of goods exports fell 4.2%, while that of goods imports dropped 5.6%.

 

Both goods exports and imports prices increased 2.1% during the same period.
