Goods exports down 7.4%

The volume of Hong Kong's total exports of goods in December last year decreased 7.4% year-on-year, the Census & Statistics Department announced today.

 

The volume of imports of goods dropped 8.7% in the same month.

 

The prices of total exports of goods and goods imports rose 2%.

 

On a seasonally adjusted basis, the volume of total exports of goods fell 3.9% in the fourth quarter of 2018 compared with the preceding quarter, while the volume of goods imports dropped 5.4%.

 

Compared with 2017, the volume of Hong Kong's total exports of goods increased 4.9% in 2018, while the volume of goods imports rose 5.9%.

 

The prices of total exports of goods increased 2.4% and the prices of goods imports also went up 2.6% during the same period.
