Stunning start

Hong Kong ushers in 2018 with a dazzling fireworks display over Victoria Harbour at midnight on January 1.

  • Soak up the Christmas colour! 

    Feast your senses on the sights, sounds and scents of Christmas in Hong Kong with the vibrant lights and displays decorating both sides of Victoria Harbour, public parks and shopping malls, filling the city with a joyful ambience this holiday season. Merry Christmas!

  • HK landmarks lit up 

    Light installations, video projects and art pieces by a host of renowned local and international artists are illuminating 16 iconic sites across the city from November 23 to 25 in the Lumieres Hong Kong festival. The sites include City Hall, the General Post Office, Statue Square Gardens and the Mandarin Oriental.

  • Mid-Autumn festival celebrations 

    Moongazers enjoyed delicious mooncakes and dazzling lantern displays set up around Hong Kong during the Mid-Autumn Festival.

     

  • CE visits Singapore, Thailand 

    Chief Executive Carrie Lam visited Singapore on August 2 and 3, where she opened an exhibition, toured arts institutions and met officials. She visited Bangkok on August 4 where she paid her respects to the late King of Thailand at the Grand Palace, met officials and attended roundtable forums.

  • Chinese aircraft carrier visits HK 

    A flotilla including China's first aircraft carrier the Liaoning made its maiden visit to Hong Kong from July 7 to 11. The Liaoning, two destroyers and a frigate were open to the public on July 8 and 9. Visitors were thrilled to pose with crew members and see fighter jets, helicopters and other military equipment.

  • President visits HK 

    President Xi Jinping visited Hong Kong from June 29 to July 1 to attend Hong Kong Special Administrative Region 20th anniversary festivities and the fifth term HKSAR Government inaugural ceremony. He also witnessed the signing of a framework Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Bay Area co-operation deal and inspected Infrastructure facilities.

  • Splashing and dashing 

    Senior officials including Chief Executive CY Leung, Chief Secretary Matthew Cheung and Financial Secretary Paul Chan officiated at some of the scores of dragon boat races held across Hong Kong's waterways from May 30 to June 4 to celebrate the Tung Ng Festival.

  • Energetic city 

    Athletes from across the city put up a great performance at the 6th Hong Kong Games. Held from April 23 to May 28, the tournament was part of the events to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the establishment of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region.

  • CE elected 

    Carrie Lam won the Chief Executive Election held at the Convention & Exhibition Centre on March 26 after the first round of voting.

  • Floral feast 

    The Hong Kong Flower Show 2017 attracts crowds of visitors. They enjoy floral and landscape displays. The show is being held in Victoria Park until March 19.  

  • New Year cheer 

    With flowers in full bloom across the city, Hong Kong is an exciting place to visit and usher in the Year of the Rooster.  

 

Model-car circuits open in Kowloon

Two racing circuits for radio-controlled model cars have opened at Jordan Valley Park.
