Chief Executive Donald Tsang joined the audience at Queen Elizabeth Stadium tonight to enjoy the concert by the Hong Kong Police Band and the PLA Army Military Band, to celebrate the 14th anniversary of the establishment of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region.
Other guests included Director of the Liaison Office of the Central People's Government in Hong Kong Peng Qinghua, Financial Secretary John Tsang, Secretary for Home Affairs Tsang Tak-sing, PLA Generals Li Guoru and Wang Kebin, Hong Kong Garrison Commander Zhang Shibo and Director of Leisure & Cultural Services Betty Fung.
More than 400 musicians from the two bands, plus the Hong Kong Garrison Military Band and the Hong Kong Association of Choral Societies performed. The programme included musical pieces such as Homecoming, Pearl of the Orient, Below the Lion Rock, March of Military Bearing, Mambo No. 5 and Soaring Dragon Leaping Tiger.
The two bands will perform for free at 4pm on July 2 in the Cultural Centre Piazza.
