*
Hong Kong Police

Police have issued 538 fixed-penalty tickets and 30 summonses to road users for violating traffic regulations during a traffic-day blitz on Hong Kong Island.

The operation concluded at 7pm today, with 175 officers enforcing traffic laws at accident blackspots on the island.

They issued 354 fixed-penalty tickets for illegal parking and 184 for other traffic offences. They also cautioned 27 pedestrians and 213 drivers for minor offences.

Up to July, there were 1,853 traffic accidents involving casualties on Hong Kong Island. Of them, 57.7% were due to pedestrians' negligence.
