Vice operator jailed for police bribe

*
ICAC

A brothel operator has been jailed one year for offering a monthly bribe of $30,000 to a police officer.

Chan Yuk-ping, 42, was convicted of one count of offering an advantage to a public servant.

Kowloon City Magistracy heard that on October 3, 2003, police officers raided the Jordon Road premises and arrested a keeper and four Mainland women for vice offences.

Chan five days later wrote an anonymous letter to the officer in charge offering a monthly payment of $30,000 as reward for taking no further enforcement action. She included her mobile telephone number in the letter.

The case was then referred to the Independent Commission Against Corruption.
