Upgrades set for Wah Fu Estate
*
Housing Department

Wah Fu Estate in Southern District will undergo structural repairs and improvement works to sustain the development for another 15 years, the Housing Department says.

Although all 18 blocks in the 30-year-old estate are structurally safe, the buildings have deteriorated due to ageing and environmental degradation. The department said today it is more economically sustainable to repair the buildings than demolish them for redevelopment.

Estate improvement works will also be conducted to enhance the living environment, including the construction of lifts and escalators to upgrade access. Less-disturbing repair methods will be used and tenants will be consulted on the sequence of works to minimise nuisance.
