Coroner to probe woman's death
*

The Coroner's Court will investigate the death of a 50-year-old leukaemia patient who developed a fungal infection and died in Tuen Mun Hospital on March 7.

 

The patient was admitted to the hospital's surgical for abdominal pain. She was transferred to the haematology ward the following day.

 

A surgery and chemotherapy was arranged for her. She was then transferred to the intensive care unit and later died on March 7.

 

The hospital said she started medication including Allopurinol on February 15. Tests showed she had rhizopus  - a fungal infection. 

 

The hospital expressed condolences to her family. The case has been reported to the Centre of Health Protection and the Hospital Authority.
