Secretary for Home Affairs Tsang Tak-sing has applauded efforts to raise the Olympic atmosphere in Sha Tin after inspecting Olympic dress-up programmes in the district today.

He officiated at the opening of City Art Square, part of the Leisure & Cultural Services Department's beautification project at Sha Tin Town Hall.

The Government launched a new stage in the citywide Olympic dress-up programme at the end of June, displaying 1,600 lamppost decals and 600 banners. Sculptures and public art installations designed by 19 overseas and local artists will be exhibited at the square, of which most are themed on the Olympics and horses.

Mr Tsang inspected greening works along the roads leading to the Olympic Equestrian venue in Sha Tin, including two Olympic stone statues. He also inspected an equestrian welcome sign at University MTR Station.

"With the work and support of the Government as well as district organisations and individuals, Sha Tin's Olympic atmosphere has been greatly enhanced. This is the result of our concerted efforts," Mr Tsang said.
