*
Centre for Health Protection

The Food & Environmental Hygiene Department has shut down Itamae Sushi in Kwun Tong, the suspected source a spate of recent food poisonings.

It closed the premises today for thorough cleaning and disinfection as 10 people have fallen ill after eating in restaurants serving food supplied by the company.

A 25-year-old man and a 26-year-old woman developed gastroenteritis symptoms after eating at a Wan Chai restaurant June 14. The restaurant has been involved in two other suspected food poisoning cases.

A 36-year-old man and a 37-year-old woman developed symptoms after eating in a Kowloon Bay restaurant on June 14 while two men and two women aged 17 to 52 fell ill after eating in a Tsuen Wan restaurant on the same day.

Two boys aged seven and eight also developed gastroenteritis symptoms after eating in a Tseung Kwan O restaurant on June 16.

Five have consulted doctors and none have been hospitalised.
