The Sir Robert Ho Tung Charitable Fund has allocated $10.95 million to 111 charity projects in the areas of medicine and health, rehabilitation, social welfare, special education and community.
The donation enables 83 organisations to improve and extend their services to benefit the local community.
Among the projects, some of the major grants included:
* $1.3 million for the Tung Wah Group of Hospitals to acquire equipment for elderly and chronically ill patients, and organise education camps for children with intellectual disability;
* $800,000 for the Samaritan Fund to provide financial assistance to needy patients in public hospitals/clinics;
* $500,000 for the Hong Kong St John Ambulance to conduct renovation works at its divisional headquarters;
* $400,000 for the Kowloon Hospital to enhance rehabilitative services for patients with spinal cord injury;
* $300,000 for the Hong Kong Society for the Deaf to purchase audiological assessment and hearing aid instruments; and
* $250,000 for the Boys'& Girls' Clubs Association of Hong Kong to organise a cross-profession support programme for children with dyslexia.
Other fund recipients include the Hong Kong Red Cross, Hong Chi Association, Barnabas Charitable Service Association, Stewards Limited, Mother's Choice, Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals, Our Lady of Maryknoll Hospital, and Haven of Hope Hospital.
As one of the major trust funds in Hong Kong, the Sir Robert Ho Tung Charitable Fund was set up in 1956 with a bequest of $500,000 by the late Sir Robert Ho Tung. It is now managed by the HSBC Trustee (Hong Kong) Limited.
