Environmental Protection Department

The Environmental Protection Department has closed Big Wave Bay Beach which has recorded a high E.coli count. People should not swim there until water quality improves.

In the department's beach water quality report for this weekend, 15 beaches have been rated 'good', 16 'fair' and Silver Mine Bay rated 'poor'.

Compared with last week's grading Kwun Yam Beach has been upgraded from fair to good and Butterfly Beach has upgraded from poor to fair.

Lower Cheung Sha Beach has downgraded from good to fair, while Big Wave Bay has downgraded from fair to very poor.

Anglers', Approach, Ting Kau, Casam, Gemini, Hoi Mei Wan and Lido Beaches are closed year round due to poor water quality.
