Self-employed people should report their income for the mandatory provident fund scheme financial year from December to the end of February to their trustees by August 29 to be eligible for the Government's $6,000 injection into their MPF accounts.

The Mandatory Provident Fund Schemes Authority issued the reminder today. Those who are in doubt about their income calculation and reporting should contact their trustees.

Staff employed between last March and the end of February should also ask their employers the enrolment and contribution status, or report to the authority by October 31 if their employers did not enrol them in an MPF scheme or an MPF-exempted occupational retirement scheme or failed to make contributions.

They can also check the information on the monthly pay records provided by their employers. Casual staff enrolled in industry schemes can check the information on the monthly contribution records their trustees provide.

The authority will announce the injection schedule and the detailed arrangements by the end of 2008. The money will be sent in the 2008-09 financial year.

Trustees will notify eligible scheme members after the completion of all injection procedures. There is no need for scheme members to file any injection application.
