    776 research projects win funding

    The Research Grants Council has approved 776 projects from University Grants Committee-funded institutions, involving $517.6 million.

     

    Including an additional 15% of the project grant allocated to the institutional management as on-costs, the grand total awarded this year is $595.2 million.

     

    The council received a record 2,303 General Research Fund applications, up 6% on last year. Of the 776 approved projects, 239 were in the engineering disciplines, 206 in areas related to humanities, social sciences and business studies, 171 in biology and medicine, and 160 in physical sciences.     The council has also announced the result of the seventh round of the Public Policy Research Funding Scheme.

     

    Of the 71 research proposals received, the council decided to fund 20 with a total amount of $7.2 million.

     

    Taking into account the on-costs allocated to institutional management, the grand total awarded was $8.3 million. For details click here.
