Primary 1 applications available Sept 8
*

Primary 1 Admission System application forms will be available September 8 to October 3.

Children born before January 1, 2004, can apply, except those who have attended primary schools or those who have been allocated a Primary 1 place.

The forms, explanatory notes and information leaflets are available from kindergartens, childcare centres, district offices and the Education Bureau's regional education offices and School Places Allocation Section.

The completed form together with supporting documents should be submitted directly to a government or an aided primary school of the parents' choice between September 26 and October 3.

Only one application should be submitted for each child. If parents are found to have applied to more than one government or aided primary school, their application will be void.

If parents only apply for the Primary 1 admission central allocation they can return the completed application forms with supporting documents from September 26 to January 16 to the bureau's School Places Allocation Section, 2/F Lui Kee Education Services Centre, 269 Queen's Road East, Wan Chai.

About 65% of government and aided primary schools will implement small-class teaching in phases in Primary 1 from the 2009-10 school year. For schools implementing small-class teaching, allocation will be based on 25 students per class. For schools not implementing small-class teaching, allocation will be based on 30 students per class.

For more information on the procedures and discretionary places quota for each school, call 2891 0088 or click here.
