Chief Executive Tung Chee Hwa has accepted the resignation of Lam Woon-kwong as Director of the Chief Executive's Office on personal grounds with immediate effect.

"I am very grateful for the contribution Mr Lam has made to the Special Administrative Region Government," Mr Tung said in a statement.

Mr Lam said in a statement that he tendered his resignation in view of media reports of his private affairs.

"I am honoured to have served the Chief Executive and the Special Administrative Region Government. I am deeply indebted to the Chief Executive for his guidance and tolerance over the years. My apologies to my colleagues for the inconvenience so caused," Mr Lam said.
